The group originated in NSW in 2010 with a group of Hills Ulyssians from New South Wales taking part in the Black Dog rides.

MOTR with the support of WDMOC are visiting Men's Sheds in the Victoria South West region highlighting the importance of understanding the link between stress and depression and developing mental health resilence.
"As a General Practitioner I am acutely aware of the profound affect Stress and crippling Depression can have on individuals and their loved ones. Suicide looms as the ultimate conclusion that is the tragedy of depression. John’s program reaches out to the often isolated male community and presenting his information in the sheds is direct and engaging." Dr Ian Sutherland, Port Fairy Medical Clinic
MOTR is sponsored by Walker Wilson Associates
Mates on the Road are currently visiting Men's Sheds and other community organisations in the Moyne Shire and Victoria South West Region in order to raise awareness of men's health and tackle the issues of stress and depression in order to build mental health resilience.
